In Italia, le giornate del 1 Novembre (Ognissanti) e del 2 Novembre sono dedicate al ricordo dei nostri cari defunti.
Come nasce la tradizione? Il 2 novembre è il giorno che la Chiesa dedica alla commemorazione dei defunti. In molti, credenti e no, fanno visita ai loro cari scomparsi nei cimiteri di tutta Italia.
Prime testimonianze sulla celebrazione dedicata ai morti risalgono al nono secolo. Il primo religioso a fissare “ufficialmente” la data del 2 novembre fu l’abate benedettino sant’Odilone di Cluny.
Il ricordo dei morti da parte della Chiesa e l’importanza di questo omaggio, che è anche manifestazione della speranza di vita eterna, è comunque presente anche nella Bibbia.
In Italia la tradizione vuole che il ricordo dei propri cari defunti possa essere tramandato ai bambini ed il 2 Novembre diventa così anche una festa fatta da dolcetti e regali per i bambini.

**In Italy, the days of November 1st (All Saints’ Day) and November 2nd are dedicated to the memory of our deceased loved ones.
How did the tradition come about? November 2 is the day that the Church dedicates to the commemoration of the dead. Many, believers and non-believers, visit their loved ones who have disappeared in cemeteries all over Italy.
First evidence of the celebration dedicated to the dead dates back to the ninth century. The first religious to “officially” fix the date of November 2 was the Benedictine abbot Saint Odilo of Cluny.
The remembrance of the dead by the Church and the importance of this homage, which is also a manifestation of the hope of eternal life, is however also present in the Bible.
In Italy, tradition has it that the memory of deceased loved ones can be handed down to children and on November 2nd it also becomes a party made up of sweets and gifts for children.
To remember the family and friends who are no longer with us, the Camp Italia Staff chose the small church where it is possible to light votive candles and pray.
